As we all know there has been an outbreak of a disease called CORONA-VIRUS. It is a family of viruses known for containing deadly diseases in mammals and birds. There are four genes in the family: Alphacoronavirus, Betacoronavirus, Gammacoronavirus and Deltacoronavirus. The first two Alpha and Beta, only infect mammals including bats, pigs, cats and humans. Gamma mostly infects birds such as poultry. The Delta Virus can infect both birds and mammals. Many media outlets have let it be known this outbreak is a very serious matter, however many people don't know that this virus actually came about in the mid 1960s.  SO PLEASE DON'T GO CRAZY, this virus has been around for a long time before THIS outbreak, if you follow the prevention steps you should be just fine.

The 2019 virus is known as Novel Coronavirus (nCoV) could have little to no symptoms to people getting severely sick and dying. Human Coroaviruses can sometimes cause lower-respiratory tract illness like pneumonia or bronchitis. This is more common in people with cardiopulmonary disease, people with weakened immune systems, infants and older adults. The CDC believes that signs of nCoV could appear in as few as 2 days or as long as 14 days after exposure. Symptoms could include:

FEVER
RUNNY NOSE
HEADACHE
SORE THROAT
COUGH
SHORTNESS OR BREATH
MALAISE (general feeling of being unwell)

TREATMENT & PREVENTION

There is no specific antiviral treatment for the 2019 nCoV infection. People infected or believed to be infected should receive supportive care to help relive symptoms, for severe cases, treatment should include care to support vital organ functions. Because there is no cure for this virus below I will list ways to prevent catching this virus.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing.

  • If soap and water are not available, use a alcohol- based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol . Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

  • Stay home when you are sick.

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with tissue, and wash hands after.

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
